Meet Our Instructors and Staff.    Seidokai instructors are professional martial artists and fitness trainers with a passion for sharing their knowledge and experience. Their passion is manifest in every class they teach, from the beginner level to the advanced level. They understand that individual students have individual learning styles and individual goals. Sang W. Chi

Chi has been studying kendo for over 15 years and has taught kendo at several kendo institutes in Korea and in the U.S.. Before joining Seidokai, he taught kendo at Yale and Boston Kendo Kyokai. Chi is the co-founder of Las Vegas Budokan, the first kendo dojo in Las Vegas. Chi is a member of the All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF) and All Eastern United States Kendo Federation (AEUSKF). Chi also has experience in boxing, kickboxing, shin kendo, gicheonmun, and he holds black belt in aikido. Chi is currently a doctoral candidate in philosophy and theology at Boston University. First Place (Individual) in 61th Annual Nisei Week Kendo Tournament; First Place (Team) in Shimoda Memorial Kendo Tournament; Third Place (Team) in 8th Goyokai Kendo Tournament; Third Place (Individual) in Cypress Open Kendo Tournament.

Linda has been practicing yoga for seven years. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance. Before her love for yoga began, she alternated running with weight training to stay in shape. As she practiced yoga more frequently, she realized that her need to train with weights no longer existed. She was building core, arm and leg strength while lengthening her muscles. Gradually, over time, and after running a half-marathon, she shifted from running to walking. She found a brisk walk and yoga were all she needed to be in the best shape of her life, mentally, spiritually, and physically. Yoga has been a life-changing tool for Linda to calm her mind. Charity has been practicing yoga since 1999 and became a registered yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance in 2009. Within the last 3 years she has become very passionate about yoga. She practiced Bikram, Ashtanga but found her calling with Classical Hatha yoga, which she is certified in. Not only has yoga made her healthier but it has also helped her slow down and enjoy the stillness from within.

Diana was drawn to yoga for years before ever taking her first class. After experiencing a few classes, she knew that practicing yoga was going to become an important part of her life. She found a studio where she could take as many classes as she could fit into her schedule. Whenever she found herself with free time, she filled it with yoga. Tina Kofler is a certified yoga instructor through Yoga Alliance. She has a background in nursing and nutrition which have both promoted a healthy lifestyle. Tina started practicing Yoga (Iyengar, Hatha, Kripalu) at the gym about 15 years ago. Diagnosed with a herniated disc 6 years ago, she was told to give up yoga. She took up pilates at that time and when she moved from NYC to PA three years ago, she decided to try a power yoga class. Dr. Lee began his taekwondo training at the age of 11 in his native country Korea. He acquired Black Belt through the promotion test of Kukkiwon (國技院), Seoul, Korea, the World Taekwondo Headquarters. His Taekwondo studies continued through his service in the South Korean military. Lee has also been training in kendo for years. In his academic years, Lee spent most of his time in studying philosophy and theology. Meanwhile, he found a new interest in a comparative study of East Asian and Western traditions in martial arts and fitness education. His interest in introducing and promoting Asian traditions in martial arts and fitness education in the greater Philadelphia area led him to work at Seidokai. Carolyn Minnick is a Registered Yoga Teacher, certified through the Yoga Alliance. She has been practicing Yoga for the past six years and has recently taken her love of the practice into teaching. Carolyn is also a Licensed Massage Therapist who has been working in the alternative health field for the past six years. Carolyn's favorite types of Yoga are Vinyasa, and Pre-Natal. When she is not teaching she loves spending time with her family and friends.

Rebecca’s journey with Yoga started in 1999 through a self study that entailed classical yoga philosophy, asana practice (Hatha yoga) and continues to evolve. Most of her yoga practice has been influenced by Ashthanga Yoga, Karma Yoga, and the Yoga Sutras/8 Limbs of Yoga described by Pantanjali. She has been teaching yoga since 2002. Michelle’s life-altering journey into yoga began five years ago when she took her first Hatha yoga class. She credits her practice with giving her the tools to create a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Having recently completed her teacher training in Classical Hatha yoga and yoga philosophy, Michelle is passionate about sharing her love of yoga with others and committed to making it accessible to everyone. When she isn’t teaching high school English or practicing yoga, Michelle enjoys spending quality time with her family and reading about yoga philosophy.
